Anyone who has a mole on their skin should think of having them tested. Skin moles are ordinarily connected to skin cancer. Individuals who have numerous moles all over their bodies or have relatives that have been diagnosed with skin cancer related to skin moles are more susceptible.

Skin cancer is a dangerous and painful type of cancer that is commonly caused by over exposure to the sun. It is important for individuals to apply sunscreens in order to limit that exposure. Mole screening tests allow for you to have a chance to discover any sign of the cancer during an early stage and to address it before it has the chance to spread.

Doctors recommend individuals to keep an eye on their skin moles and to check it at homeat least once a month. The majority of moles do not always start out cancerous - but they can invariably become infected. The moles that are malignant can commonly be identified by their different appearance. They will appear different then the other type of moles that are on your body. If you find a new mole appear on your body after the age of twenty you should be careful.

The types of skin moles that don't begin cancerous have the ability to become that way. If you see one of these types of moles changing colors and the way that they look than you need to make an appointment with your skin doctor. These moles will frequently start to itch, bleed, become tender, or painful.

If you do not find any change in your moles after a period of time than there might not be anything for you to concern over. Doctors have created a special formula to help people think of what to look for in a cancerous mole. They are referred to as the 'ABCD's' of mole testing.

Asymmetry - Half of the mole is not similar in any way to the other half
Border - The edges of the mole is irregular and blurred
Color - The mole is a different color like brown, tan, black, blue, white, or red
Diameter - The diameter of the mole is substantially larger than that of the eraser on a pencil
Elevation - The mole is elevated from the skin's surface

If you find any of these signs than you need to make an appointment with your doctor or skin doctor as soon as possible. The doctor will be able to execute a skin biopsy on the mole and analyze it. If it is malignant then the biopsy will show to what extent the mole has been touched and whether or not it has spread beneath the skin's surface.
