| Description: | Alibata is an ancient Philippine baybayin script. As maintained by the British paleographer David Diringer, the Baybayin or Alibata probably came directly from or an offshoot of Kavi or old Javanese. In the early 1900s, Dean Paul Versoza conveniently forged the term Alibata based on the Arabic setup of the Maguindanao letters, Alif, Ba & Ta. Versoza dropped the ‘f’ for euphony’s sake. |
